Canada

The Centre for Studies in Religion and Society at the University of Victoria has completed a bibliography on religion and ethnicity in Canada. It can be found

The new Nationality, Immigration and Asylum Act has now come into force.

United States

The Migration Policy Institute has an extremely valuable information source on information surrounding immigrants, refugees and ethnic minorities.
Recent additions include data on foreign-born in the1991, 1996 and 2001 Australian Censuses;
information on the foreign born in the United States and Canada; and an overview of the fundamentals of refugee protection.

Sixth National Metropolis Conference

The Sixth National Metropolis Conference will take place in Edmonton 21-24 March 2003. The theme is "Immigration and Diversity:
Research and Policy in an Era of Globalization
." It combines four plenary sessions on key contemporary policy concerns in the field
of immigration and diversity with over sixty tightly focused workshops. Both the plenary sessions and the workshops are designed to

This project investigates the roll of religion in the lives of new immigrants to the San Francisco Bay area. Researchers involved in the project study Chinese, Filipino, Vietnamese, Mexican and Salvadoran immigrant communities to assess how religious groups and communities encourage the participation of recent immigrants in the political, civic and associational life of San Francisco and of the larger U.S. political/social system.
