Citizenship and Immigration Canada
The Spring 2005 issue of The Monitor contains
analysis and tables based on preliminary year-end data for
2004. Included are analysis and tables on quarterly changes
in immigration, foreign worker and foreign student flows,
as well as analysis of immigration to Canada in 2004, including
a look at immigrant source countries, immigration class,
official language ability, mother tongue, destinations in
Canada, skill level and education level. The feature article
previews CIC’s Recent Immigrants in Metropolitan
Areas profile series, which include data on immigrants’ origin
and background, family and household structure, participation
in the economy, income and housing. Profiles will soon be

Statistics Canada
Statistics Canada has released two new research papers.
The first is entitled, “ Are immigrants buying to get
in?: the role of ethnic clustering on the homeownership propensities
of 12 Toronto immigrant groups, 1996-2001,” while the
second is entitled, “ Intergenerational impact of immigrants'
selection and assimilation on health outcomes of children.” Both

International Organization for Migration (IOM)
The IOM has published a report called “Fertile Fields:
Trafficking in Persons in Central Asia .” The report
details regional patterns of trafficking in persons in Central
Asia and the links to labour migration, as well as presenting
data on trafficking victims assisted in Central Asia, outlining
existing gaps and developing recommendations on counter-trafficking
