Workshop description:
The fact that the first immigrant generation is becoming older leads to some important questions that deal with immigrant elderly and the infrastructure of care. What impact does the growth of an older immigrant generation have on the regular and established services for the elderly? Should these services be adjusted to a new group of clients? In the workshop we propose we want to discuss various researches from European and transatlantic countries. By this comparison we want to make an inventory of how `demand’ and `supply’ regarding migrant elderly care are geared to one another and discuss the implications for policy and the health infrastructure of the society involved. Structure of the workshop. We aim to have all presentations ready before the conference. These, and important data from the various researches, should be published on the internet. We will ask referees to prepare a reaction on these presentations. These reactions will be the core of the workshop after which a discussion will be initiated. 1st part. Presentations of the various researches: most important conclusions. Main theme: `How are demand and supply geared to one another’? 2nd part. Implications for policy and the health infrastructure of the city. Main theme: `How can health services for elderly be adjusted to better serve the older immigrant groups’?

Goals of the workshop:
The ultimate goals of the workshop are: i) to stimulate discussion about the changes that are needed to take good care of the immigrant elderly; ii) to identify key policy issues that affect these processes; iii) to develop an international network of people interested in these issues.
